Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
Okay, I guess I have to stop.  At least for now.  This is my August bead journal project and I am very pleased with it.  I think more beads could be added  but it is the last day of month so I am calling it done.  I do reserve the right to return to it in a the future though. Take a Stitch Tuesday

Image
The Turkman Stitch has been added to me leaf.  Thank you to Sharon B  for the instructions, again.  It seems I did this stitch three years but I promptly forgot about it.  I have every intention to use this stitch again so that it sticks in my memory.

Beading on paper

Image
I will bead and stitch on anything, at least once.  So adding beads to my own coloring page just made perfect sense to me.  First I color the image, then adhere it to fusible interfacing and then I add my stitching and beads.  I think this one needs a few more beads added to it.  Please feel free to print the coloring page for your own use. Journal page week 34

Whatever you are.. be a good one.  I don't love this quote.  I don't always feel good enough, I think we all feel that at times.  I feel like there are times when we shouldn't put the pressure of being good on ourselves.  It is okay to be mediocre.  It is okay to just enjoy the process.  This page is not good but I had fun doing it and that is fine with me.

Work in Progress Wednesday

I suppose some would not consider organizing work in progress.  Organizing is definite part of my process.  I really quite enjoy it.  This week I have been organizing some of my silk threads.  I find that when they are in a skein I passover using them.  I decided to put them on bobbins so that I would actually use them.  I ran out of the little cardboard bobbins and did a search for what else I could use.  I came across some good ideas but none that I was keen to use.  I kept pondering the idea and came up with using old playing cards.  It is working really well. Take a Stitch Tuesday

Image
Here is my Sheaf stitch, on the upper right.  I am using my hand dyed silk threads on a silk fabric.  The colors are way off and I am not sure why.  I am doing some slow, thoughtful stitching to fill in the leaf shape.  I am enjoying the process and find it quite relaxing. Thanks to  Sharon B  for the instructions.

I heart flowers and macro

Image
A fresh bouquet on my table makes me smile.  Even though I have a marvelous macro lens I wanted to explore macro with my phone.  This is the best I could get.  I am not overly happy the macro on my phone but it was worth exploring.  And I may try it again but I definitely prefer my Nikon 105 lens. Progress on my bead journal

Image
So the yellow beads were still feeling rather in my face.  I decided that if I added more yellow it all might come together.  I have added some silk ribbon roses in yellow to that end.  I think it is helping.  Still five more to stitch and then some more beads. Journal Prompt #33

Image
The quote this week is 'Nothing is impossible.. the word itself says I'm possible.' Audrey Hepburn.   In my opinion,  believing that something is impossible will stop us in our tracks though.

Work in Progress Wednesday

Does experimentation count as work in progress?  I think so.  I have been playing with watercolors on coffee filters.  I like the results but they are not quite what I was hoping to achieve.  More play is necessary.  I can foresee myself beading on these.  They will need to be fused to an interfacing first. What a thrill it was for me to get to the Dale Chihuly exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum.  His work is absolutely stunning.  This is a small part of the ceiling installation.  So beautiful! Slow Stitching

I know some people really dislike handwork but not me.  I am so enjoying this little project.  Using my hand dyed silk thread feels so good, so relaxing. I am linking with http://ninamariesayre.blogspot.ca/

Journal Challenge Week #32

Image
The quote this week is 'Respond to ever call that excites your spirit.'   by Rumi.  I am not sure that I have time to respond to every call that excites me.  I guess it depends on what the response is.

Work in Progress Wednesday

I have made some progress on my bead journal.  Those yellow beads are seeming awfully bright right now.  Not sure, might have been a poor choice.  Once more beads are added they might not seem so in your face.  I am not ready to remove them just yet. I heart Macro

I got myself some flowers.  I love the soft abstract quality and bright color of this one.  Makes my heart go pitter patter. I am linking with http://image-in-ing.blogspot.ca/ http://mersad-photography.blogspot.ca/2016/08/on-split-airport-through-my-lens-nr-54.html

August Bead Journal start

Image
Working with some silk again.  Yum!  I have added some silk ribbon roses to this piece and still need to add four more.  Then the beading will commence.  I can't wait to see how this one turns out.  I am already loving it. I am linking with http://ninamariesayre.blogspot.ca/

Journal page week 31

Everyday life begins to sparkle when we realize our friends are the glitter.  Great quote.  My life is full of sparkle and glitter!  This is another busy journal page but I like it better than the one from last week.  Again, I had fun doing it.

Work in Progress Wednesday

Last month I had a lot of fun dyeing some silk threads.  I have been quite eager to get stitching with them.  I have created a little 'book' from silk scraps.  I am planning to stitch a leaf shape on each page.  Silk thread on silk fabric is so yummy! Published

I have a quilt published in Crazy Quilt Quarterly Fall 2016.  It is always a thrill to see my work published!  This is the fourth time I have had work published in this magazine and it never gets old! You can purchase a copy here  http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/1092567

I heart Macro

I can't have too many flowers in my life.  This is an older photo as I don't have any fresh flowers in the house at the moment.  I think a trip to the farmer's market is in order to rectify that situation.
