Please enjoy!  I colored mine with brush markers and Sharpies on photo paper.  Happy New Year!

Work in Progress Wednesday

Though technically not a crazy quilt block this is what I am doing for my December CQ project.  I was really hoping to have it finished by now but that has been the theme of this year, finishing late.  I have been participating in the CQ block challenge for a number of years now.  I am taking a break in 2016.  I still love CQ and will likely participate another year but need sometime to concentrate on other projects. Texture photo

Image
The peeling paint has created so much lovely texture.  Prowling around the auto wrecker is so much fun.  Kind of weird that this princess enjoys it so much! I am linking with http://image-in-ing.blogspot.ca/ http://mersad-photography.blogspot.ca/2015/12/fun-in-snow-through-my-lens-nr-22.html

Snowflake coloring page

Please enjoy this free snowflake design, color it or do as you wish.  I used Sharpies, metallic markers and a gel pen to color mine.  Merry Christmas!

I heart Macro but this isn't a macro shot

I got to enjoy a small waterfall tour this past fall.  Unfortunately, the foliage wasn't at it best color but the waterfalls were still beautiful. Detritus

Image
My 'bead' journal project for December is finished.  I had to keep it fairly quick and easy as life is busy.  My 'beads's are rolled paper.  I stitched with dental floss that I colored with Sharpies.  I stitched onto a scrap of Christmas wrapping paper.  My piece is a statement against the over consumerism of this time of year.  I love and celebrate Christmas.  I love giving and getting presents but that is not what is truly important about Christmas, at least to me. Free mandala coloring page

I had fun coloring this, as I usually do.  I used a number of different things to color it: a glitter gel pen, metallic silver Sharpie, Crayola markers, and Prismacolor pencil crayons.  You are welcome to print and color this image.  Enjoy!

Work in Progress Wednesday

My November Crazy quilt project is done.  I am really struggling to finish these projects in the same month this year!  I think I need to take a break from crazy quilting.  I am not giving it my all and need a change.  I have a start on the December project so that I can finish out the year. I heart Macro

Image
It is a very grey and dreary day here.  I would much rather have snow than rain at this time of year.  Oh well, I am cheering myself with a bright, close up of this flower. Puzzling and pondering

Image
I cut a kirigami snowflake and used it as a stencil to create this on a sheer piece of fabric.  The paints are metallic and I think you can see that in the photo.  I love they way it turned out.  I love the design.  Now I am not totally sure as to what to do next.  If I want to stitch on it then it will need to be adhered to some fusible interfacing as the sheer fabric is too flimsy on its own.  But then I lose the sheer quality.  Puzzling, pondering hmmm. Mandala Coloring page

I really like this design.  I think I could have done a better job coloring it.  I am not thrilled with the gold that I added around the edge.  The light pink seems a little off as well.  I may try it again with different colors.  Please feel to print and color.  I would love to see what you do with it.

Take a stitch Tuesday

Image
The Buttonhole Wheel stitch is so cool!  I really like it.  I used it here with unusual materials.  This is the start of my bead journal project for December.  I decided to use only reclaimed materials and I am calling the piece  Detritus.  I reused Christmas wrapping paper and adhered it to fusible interfacing.  I rolled paper strips to form my 'beads'.  I have stitched with dental tape that I colored with Sharpie markers.  My husband was given a massive amount of dental tape and we will never get through it all.  It just makes sense to repurpose some of it.  Thanks to Sharon B at  pintangle.com  for doing Take a Stitch Tuesday!

I heart Macro

Image
Last week I got to go to McLean's auto wreckers with my dear friend ML.  I love going to this place, especially with a friend!  For some reason I find beauty in all the rust and decay.  I found this moss? lichen?  not sure what it is.  It was growing on one side of an old truck.  It kind of reminds me of snowflakes. Playing with paper and color

Image
This was simply just play.  I love watching colors run and blend together.  I used fluid watercolors on Japanese paper.  I drew the feathered heart design with white glue first.  I may adhere this to fusible interfacing and add some stitching.  I may not.  I so enjoyed the process of doing this that it doesn't have to become anything else. Coloring page

Here is my coloring page for the week.  I was going for a snowflake with this one.  I used a silver Sharpie marker and managed to capture the shine!  Not easy to do.  Have fun coloring this design!

Work in Progress Wednesday

My bead journal for November is finished.  I particularly like the beaded chain stitch that I did with the blue beads.  I can see room for improvement with this piece.  I think adding some more stitches done in a metallic embroidery thread could add some interesting texture.  At this point I don't have time so will just call it finished for now.
