I love pansies! Since I was a small child they have been my favorite flower. I think this is a pretty cool shot. I am linking with http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/ again this week.
I had this piece done weeks ago but misplaced it and only just found it. It has been a blur of a month and I don't remember the name of the stitch that I learned on this piece. I am pleased with the way it turned out though!
Last year a guild member challenged us to create something from a piece of silk she provided. The color didn't suit me so I added some paint to make it more me. That is as far as I got on the challenge. The piece of silk hung around my studio for ages waiting for further inspiration. Finally this summer an idea struck me. I cut some of my gelli prints into circles and adhered them to the silk. I have added loads of random embroidery to it. It still needs more though. More color! This is my alternating up and down buttonhole stitch, the beaded version. I used Kreinik Very Fine Braid and crystal beads. I think it works well on this seam. I am linking with Sharon B at http://pintangle.com/ I try to not post too many personal details on my blog but I feel I should explain my week long absence from posting. My Mom passed on last week. I am grateful my sister was able to be here so we could share some laughter and tears together.
I used Glisten Gloss Sundance thread to stitch this. It was absolutely miserable to pull through the fabric. However, I persisted and got it done. I do like the way it looks so I guess it was worth it. I am linking with http://pintangle.com/2014/08/19/take-a-stitch-tuesday-126-and-127/
Don't you just love the colors! This is a glass gazing ball. The abstract quality of the photo is what I enjoy. I am linking with http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/
I have not made much progress on my CQ project for August. My art time has been limited. Still I am liking what I have done so far. All of the fabrics I used were stamped, stencilled, painted by me! I have used some glitter paint, Pearl Ex and transfer foil. I love the sparkle. I am linking with http://pintangle.com/ and http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.ca/
Oh! I like this stitch! I feel pretty comfortable with the herringbone stitch so I decided to try something a little different. I am really pleased with the way it turned out. Yay! I will definitely use this stitch again! Thanks to Sharon B at http://pintangle.com/ for the instructions.
This is a cut glass dish lit from underneath. I had a lot of fun playing with this idea. I am linking with http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/
Not a lot of difference since the last time I posted about this block but I do consider it to be finished now. I did add a bit of stitching in the upper right corner and maybe something else, I don't remember. I do think the upper left corner is a bit dark but I am not sure how to correct that. I will wait until the block are stitched together to decide how to handle that. I am linking with http://pintangle.com/ and http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.ca/
The top photo is my attempt at closed Herringbone stitch. Bottom photo is my attempt at Woven chained bar stitch. I still have some weaving to finish on that. I was getting a little tired of doing but will hopefully get it finished in the next day or so. I am linking with Sharon B at http://pintangle.com/
There is a lot of journal writing on the first layer of this page. I doubt that anyone could read it but I think you can see the marks. I painted the eye with Reeve's water soluble wax pastels. It feels good to do a bit of painting again!
Well, that week went past crazy quick. I haven't had much time for creating. I think this flower is foxglove but I am not a gardener so I could be wrong. I think it is a very interesting looking flower. The spots are so interesting. I am linking with http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/
