Work in Progress Wednesday

Image
I am not too sure about the orange/yellow lace flowers in this piece.  When I colored them with Sharpies I thought it was good.  Now I am not too sure.  I have added a lot of stitching to this piece in the last week.  I honestly don't know where I found the time! Take a stitch Tuesday

Image
The Long Tail Chain is the stitch for this week.  Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/  gives great instructions for it.  I was thrilled to find the time to sit outside in the beautiful sunshine and stitch this pretty stitch.  I stitched a flower in pink rayon thread in the upper right of this photo.  I also stitched some peach buds along the feather stitch.  I want to add a bunch more as well but that will take a bit of time.  I thought I better get this posted now or I might not get to it all this week. Life has been pretty busy lately.  Yesterday we, as in the Grand Guild of Fibre Artists, hung our show at the Mill in St. Jacobs.  It looks fabulous!  I am thrilled to be a part of such a diverse and talented group.  If you live in the area and can find the time to get out there, it is worth the drive.  The show goes until Saturday.

I heart Macro

More from the wrecking yard.  I have hundreds of macro shots from the wrecking yard and I can't wait to go again.  This one is broken glass.  Love it! I am linking with Laura at http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/

Coloring lace flowers

Image
I used Sharpie markers and rubbing alcohol to color these lace flowers.  I love having the ability to customize the colors to anything I want.   I plan to add these to my May crazy quilt block.

I made a bit of progress on this piece in the last week.  I am not quite sure where I found the time to do it but am very glad I did.  I crocheted some little roses and added them.  I also stitched on some little fabric flowers and some beads.  I took the photo upside down and now I am wondering if I like it better that way.  We will see.  I don't have decide for a while. Take a stitch Tuesday

Image
This is the start of my bead journal project for June.  I thought I would try out the beaded feathered chain stitch that Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/  taught us last week.  I used a round bead and I didn't stitch in a zig zag pattern.  I used a Kreinik thread that is metallic and almost looks like little beads.

Rust and pealing paint.  What's not to love!  I have spent many a happy hour shooting macro photos of rust and pealing paint in a wrecking yard.  It must sound kind of weird but I don't care.  I get a lot of pleasure creating these abstract images.  It is about creating beauty from something that is destroyed but was once someone's dream. Bead journal project for May

I got this done a while ago but haven't had a chance to post it until now.  Stitching through the needle felted wool is a dream.

Work in Progress Wednesday

I have a fair amount of wonkiness happening on this block.  I am not sure how to fix.  Any tips?  I am always excited to start a new project so I am not always patient.  I thought adding a lot of lace would hide the problem.  That didn't work all that well.   I probably shouldn't link with anyone as advertising this block isn't likely in my best interest.  Oh well, maybe someone can learn from my mistake. Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/  teaches us how to do the Feathered Chain stitch this week.  It is super easy.  I feel like I should have done something more inventive with it since it was so easy for me.  Don`t you hate the word should!  I used it to cover another seam join on my crazy quilt.  That quilt has most of the block seams done now.  Soon I am going to have to face the fact I will have to finish it with a back and binding.  I really don`t enjoy that part of the process.  I have another finished top sitting at my machine waiting for the same thing.  I am finding it difficult to work up the courage to do it.

I heart Macro

I am joining Laura at http://www.shinethedivinecreativityisaspiritualpractice.com/ again this week.  She has such a beautiful blog.  My macro photo this week is a piece of punchenella or sequin waste laid on top of a CD and lit by a fluorescent bulb.   I had a lot of fun playing with this!

Well, I am a little late in finishing my cq block for April.  Yet again!  Oh well, at least I am happy with it now.  I better get moving on my May block!  Yikes! I am linking with http://pintangle.com/ and http://needleandthreadnetwork.blogspot.ca/

Take a Stitch Tuesday

Last week Sharon B at  http://pintangle.com/  taught how to do the Zig Zag Coral Stitch.  It looks a bit complicated but it really isn't.  I am looking forward to learning the beaded version!

I heart Macro

I feel the longing to play with my camera more.  I truly do love macro.  Since I bought my macro lens I think it has been on my camera 90% of the time. This is an image of a dead rose.  It dried so nicely.  I have a bit of a fascination with decayed things.  Mind you they still have to pretty! Art bra for the cause

Image
This is my start on my second art bra for the auction this fall.  It certainly doesn't look like much at this point.  Actually, it looks a bit tacky!  Really the gold and silver trims and fabrics are just there for background.  I plan on loading on beads and jewels.  I will be calling it Treasure Chest.  Don't you just love it?
